Please give us your views - new surveys for individuals and carers about dual diagnosis of mental ill health and alcohol or drug use

Publication date: 3 Dec, 2021

We are aware, through our work, that people who have a “dual diagnosis” i.e. have a mental illness and co-existing use of alcohol or drugs, often fall between services.

We plan to look into the services available for people in this situation, and to identify gaps, problems and any good practice in Scotland that can be shared.

We will then write a report which will be widely published and will go to all health boards, local authorities, health and social care partnerships and the Scottish Government.

To make sure we hear from as many people as possible, we have created two new confidential surveys in which we ask for your experience, good or bad, either personally or as a family member/friend.

The surveys should only take around 15 minutes to complete, and the closing date for responses is 31 January 2022.

The links below give more information on this work, and take you directly to the surveys.

We wish to share these surveys as widely as possible so we get to hear from as many people as possible. Please pass them on to anyone you think has experience they’d like to share with us. Thank you!
