Commission publishes three new local visit reports

19 July 2017

The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland today published three new local visit reports.

These include visits to NHS wards and units, and a private hospital.

The reports highlight positive and negative findings from the Commission's visits. They make recommendations for change where necessary. The Commission expects a response to each of its recommendations within three months of the reports being published.

The reports are for:

Ailsa Hospital, Iona/Lewis and Jura wards, Ayr (announced)

Surehaven Hospital, Glasgow (announced)

Waterloo Close, Glasgow (announced)

A Mental Welfare Commission spokesperson said: "We undertake over 100 local visits like these every year. By publishing our reports we hope to help share good practice where we find it, and call for change where services are lacking."

Notes to Editors

The Commission publishes local visit reports once a month on its website.
