Commission publishes new local visit reports - 21 November 2018

The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland today published 12 new reports on its visits to NHS hospital wards and units, a care home, the State Hospital, and one prison.

The reports highlight positive and negative findings from the Commission's visits, one of which was unannounced. They make recommendations for change where necessary. The Commission expects a response to each of its recommendations within three months of the reports being published.

The reports are for:

Arran and Mull Hubs, The State Hospital, Lanark (announced)

Arran Ward, Ayr Clinic, Ayr (announced)

Balmore and Banff Wards, Leverndale Hospital, Glasgow (unannounced)

Cedar and Hawthron Wards, Orchard Clinic, Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Edinburgh (announced)

Eden Ward, Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Edinburgh (announced)

Jura and Kintyre Units, Cumbrae Lodge Care Home, Irvine (unannounced)

Low Moss Prison, Glasgow (announced)

Muirview Ward, Stratheden Hospital, Cupar (announced)

Munro Ward, Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow (announced)

Radernie Ward, Stratheden Hospital, Cupar (announced)

Wards 1 & 2, Wishaw General University Hospital, Wishaw (announced)

Ward 4, Dr Gray's Hospital, Elgin (announced)

A Mental Welfare Commission spokesperson said: "We undertake over 100 local visits like these every year. By publishing our reports we hope to help share good practice where we find it, and call for change where services are lacking."
