Commission publishes new local visit reports - 20 March 2019

The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland today published nine new reports on its visits to NHS hospital wards and units, and one prison.

The reports highlight positive and negative findings from the Commission's visits. They make recommendations for change where necessary. The Commission expects a response to each of its recommendations within three months of the reports being published.

The reports are for:

Wards 1, 2, and the Mulberry Unit, Carseview Centre, Dundee (announced)

Prospect Bank Ward, Findlay House, Edinburgh (announced)

HMP Perth, Perth (announced)

Loch View, Larbert (announced)

Waverley Unit, Quayside Nursing Home, Glasgow (announced)

The William Fraser Centre, Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Edinburgh (announced)

The National Child Inpatient Unit, Ward 4, Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow (announced)

Ward 17, St John's Hospital, Livingston (announced)

IPCU, University Hospital Wishaw, Wishaw (announced)

A Mental Welfare Commission spokesperson said: "We undertake over 100 local visits like these every year. By publishing our reports we hope to help share good practice where we find it, and call for change where services are lacking."
