Commission publishes new local visit reports - 19 December 2018

The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland today published 10 new reports on its visits to NHS hospital wards and units, and one prison.

The reports highlight positive and negative findings from the Commission's visits, four of which were unannounced. They make recommendations for change where necessary. The Commission expects a response to each of its recommendations within three months of the reports being published.

The reports are for:

Leven, Garry, and Tummel Wards, Murray Royal Hospital, Perth (unannounced)

Craigowl Centre and Flats 1 and 2/3, Strathmartine Centre, Dundee (announced)

Huntly, Drum, and Crathes Wards, Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen (unannounced)

Wards 2 and 3, Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert (unannounced)

Rowanbank Clinic, Glasgow (announced)

HMP Inverness, Inverness (announced)

Robert Fergusson Unit, Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Edinburgh (announced)

Graham Anderson House, Glasgow, G21 1UU (announced)

Willow and Oak Wards, Orchard View, Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock (announced)

Skye House, Regional Adolescent Unit, Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow (unannounced)

A Mental Welfare Commission spokesperson said: "We undertake over 100 local visits like these every year. By publishing our reports we hope to help share good practice where we find it, and call for change where services are lacking."
