Commission publishes new local visit reports - 18 July 2018

The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland today published 10 new reports on its visits to NHS hospital wards and units, and one independent hospital.

The reports highlight positive and negative findings from the Commission's visits. They make recommendations for change where necessary. The Commission expects a response to each of its recommendations within three months of the reports being published.

The reports are for: 

Royal Cornhill Hospital, Davan, Muick and Skene wards, Aberdeen (unannounced)

Great Western Lodge, Aberdeen (announced)

Borders General Hospital, Huntlyburn House, Melrose (announced)

The Kingsway Care Centre, Dundee (announced)

Stobhill Hospital, Armadale Ward, Glasgow (announced)

The Ayr Clinic, Ayr (announced)

Kirklands Hospital, Kylepark Cottage, Bothwell (announced) 

St John's Hospital, Mother and Baby Unit, Livingston (announced)

Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Orchard Clinic, Redwood Ward, Edinburgh (announced) 

Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Fairmile and Canaan wards, Edinburgh (announced)

A Mental Welfare Commission spokesperson said: "We undertake over 100 local visits like these every year. By publishing our reports we hope to help share good practice where we find it, and call for change where services are lacking."
