Commission publishes fourteen new local visit reports

The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland today published fourteen new local visit reports.

These include visits to hospital wards and units, and the State Hospital.

The reports highlight positive and negative findings from the Commission's visits, six of which were unannounced. They make recommendations for change where necessary. The Commission expects a response to each of its recommendations within three months of the reports being published.

Blythswood House, Renfrewshire (announced)

Wishaw General Hospital, Ward 2, Wishaw (unannounced)

Stratheden Hospital, IPCU, Fife (announced)

Stratheden Hospital, Muirview and Bayview Wards, Fife (announced)

Polmuir Road Rehabilitation Unit, Aberdeen (unannounced)

Murray Royal Hospital, Amulree and Rannoch Wards, Perth (announced)

East Brig, Galashiels (announced)

Herdmanflat Hospital, Lammerlaw Ward, Haddington (unannounced)

A Mental Welfare Commission spokesperson said: "We undertake over 100 local visits like these every year. By publishing our reports we hope to help share good practice where we find it, and call for change where services are lacking."
