Education and training resources
As part of our role to promote good practice we are keen to make sure that professionals and volunteers working in mental health and learning disability services understand the legal frameworks that they are working within and are aware of the role and function of the Commission. Our practitioners and Commissioners contribute to training and professional development programmes across Scotland when they can. We can't always provide a member of staff to attend and speak at college lectures, staff or volunteer training or development sessions. This section contains links to specially developed education and training resources that we have developed for trainers, educators and students to use to support learning.
Our resources have been specifically developed to support people developing careers as:
- social workers or Mental Health Officers
- mental health or learning disability nurses
- medical practitioners
They may also be relevant to students who are working towards a career in:
- occupational therapy
- clinical psychology
- voluntary sector mental health or learning disability services
Resources include:
- background handouts that outline key aspects of the law, the Commission's role in relation to these laws and how practitioners may come into contact with us
- case studies that highlight issues around good practice
- powerpoint presentation slides
- an interactive quiz to test knowledge and understanding
