The development of in-patient services in the South Clyde area of Greater Glasgow was stimulated by a visit from the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland which highlighted the need for improved access to psychological therapies as well as an on-going review of existing nursing training in this area of practice. The aim of the project was to improve the patient experience by increasing therapeutic activity on the wards. The therapeutic interventions in nursing practice projectaspired to promote the principles of recovery and to ensure that this was meaningful and connected to the principles of the mental health Act.
