The Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 will come into force in October 2005. This website is the Mental Welfare Commission's guide to the Scottish Executive's new Mental Health Act forms. There is also a paper guide that accompanies it which only contains a few of the key sections available on this website.

This website is not an e-learning course, and you won't be asked to take any formal assessments. You can use the material, however, as an education resource, and it gives you:

  • A portal to other relevant sources that will help you better understand the effect the Act will have on your practice

Both the website and paper guide should be used as an educational resource; the content should not be used to inform legal decision making. You should keep in mind that these forms are not yet finalised.
