Your rights
This text will be replaced
There are laws that are used to help people with a mental illness or a learning disability. Sometimes these laws say that other people can make decisions about you.
These can be decisions about
- Where you live.
- How you spend your day.
- Medicines you need to take.
- Who you can be your friend.
- What you can spend your money on.
The law says when and how this can happen. It gives you rights.
- You have a right to be safe.
- You have a right to have a say about what happens to you.
- You can get an independent advocate to help you.
- You have a right to good care.
- You have a right to have interesting things to do.
These are the main rights you have. There are lots more. If you are worried about any of these things we can help. You can call us on 0800 389 6809. This phone call is usually free. You might have to pay if you are using a mobile phone.
