What we do
We work to make sure that people are properly treated and cared for.
There are laws that say how people with a mental illness or a learning disability can be treated. We check that these laws are being used properly.
We give advice about how to use the law and the rights that people have. We visit people and talk to them about their care.
If people have a problem with the help they are getting we can look into that. If we think something is wrong we ask the people responsible to put it right. People don't have to do what we say but most of the time they do.
You can find out more about the laws and what we do in our and our Easy Read Annual Report (pdf).
