About us
The Commission is made up of people with an understanding and experience of mental health and learning disability.
Many of us have worked in healthcare, social work or the law. Some of us are carers or have used mental health and learning disability services ourselves.
Our teams
The Commission works across the whole of Scotland. Our visiting, monitoring and case-work is organised across three teams. Each team consists of health and social care professionals, administrative support and Commissioners. These teams are supported by our corporate services team who look after our finances, human resources, information systems and communication.
Our Commissioners
Our Commissioners are publicly appointed and ensure our independence. They bring valuable knowledge, skills and experience. The main job of a Commissioner is to visit individuals who are being given care and treatment under mental health or incapacity law. Commissioners also guide, develop and manage our work.
